Construction
  • The Sky Tower took two and a half years to build,
  • The tower is made of reinforced, high-performance concrete.
  • The upper levels are made from composite materials, structural steel, precast concrete and reinforced concrete,
  • During construction 15,000 cubic metres of concrete, 2,000 Tonnes of reinforcing steel and 660 tonnes of structural steel were used.
  • The mast weighs over 170 tonnes, it had to be lifted into place with a crane attached to the Sky Tower, it would have been too heavy for a helicopter to lift.

Sky jump

  • You fall approximately 85kph for around 11 seconds!!!
  • You land in the Sky City plaza, just beside the Sky Tower

Sky Walk
  • Walk around a 1.2m wide walk way
  • You would be 192m above the ground
  • No, hand rails, and nothing but air either side of you!!!
  • walk 160 degrees around the Sky Tower!!
You would stop at several points to:
  • have your photo taken
  • admire the views of Auckland city and the harbour
  • learn about Auckland history and landmarks
  • see how tiny cars and people are from 192 metres above the ground!
  • hear the story of the Auckland Sky Tower’s construction
  • have a go at hanging over the edge!
